Last night we went back to Dal Billy, and had pasta with fresh crab, mmmmm. We went to another place for tiramisu, and it had a bit of citrus in it which was awesome. The wait was long, so they gave us free wine! Then we went for a walk to look at the city at night. There were men fishing from the top of the cliff with glow in the dark tips on their rods. They showed us what they caught and it was pretty cool!
This morning we went to Riomaggiore and rented a boat. It was SUPER windy and choppy so someone drove it for us, which ended up being romantic and awesome. He took us to a cave where the water was really blue (similar to the blue grotto) and there were sea tomatoes (like sea urchins). The legend is if you hit one with your boat, Poseidon will be mad and make the seas choppy the next day. The guide also told us that when pirates came to the Cinque Terre, the townspeople would flee into churches high into the hills. PIRATES!
We ate lunch from a mom and pop place that made pesto lasagna and zucchini with bread crumbs. Delish! Then we went home to shower, since the boat ride sprayed sea water everywhere and we had salt all over us.
We relaxed until dinner, and went to an amazing place called Miky in Monterosso. It was pricey, but worth it (thanks mom and dad!). We had stuffed mussels, then a seafood risotto. It came in a GIANT pot with bread dough on top, and the waiter LIT IT ON FIRE and then served it to us after the bread cooked. It was insane. Michael had a little trouble with a lobster claw and his favorite piece of lobster that he worked so hard to get out went flying across the room and he debated eating it off the floor. Luckily he didn't. We had tiramisu and lemon sorbet for dessert, and we drew on the plate with chocolate.
Overall a great last night here. Sad to go, but there isn't too much to do here and I finished a book already (good thing I brought more).
