This morning started off great. We went to the Vatican super early and got 8th row seats in front of the pope. He drove by in a pope mobile and waved at us, and Michael yelled "I LOVE YOU POPE" and I was super embarrassed. The pope looks really really old, and a little like Darth Sidius. We saw the Sistine Chapel, and I took a picture even though I wasn't allowed to. Sneaky!
Then we went for pizza to Pizzarium (or as Michael likes to call it, Pizza Aquarium). It was amazing and expensive and crispy and delicious. Lots of anchovies, and one slice that had cod on it. Pics are below.
After that, we wandered around in the historic centre, and got gelato from a place that a friend suggested. Delicious and the ginger cinnamon flavor was the best. Then we wandered to some big buildings (where Michael made friends with a man who didnt speak english and wasnt allowed to eat his apple, they had a laugh which transcended language barriers... Deep, I know) and wound up at the synagogue. We took a tour (ISIC card discount!) and it was actually really interesting. Definitely the best tour we've had so far. The Jews in Italy aren't Sephardic or ashkenazy, they are their own sect. Very cool stuff.
Then we had a coke zero which was smoother here than in Canada.
Then we came back home, planned some things for tomorrow, and went searching for food. There was a crappy restaurant I found, but our server forgot about us so we left. There was also a kosher sushi place that was overpriced, so we went to a random tent in the middle of a park (where some sort of vigil and parade was going on) and had the best time. It was actually a bar that served all you can eat food with an alcoholic drink for 8 euro. Such a lucky find!! We needed to offset our pizza lunch costs anyway!
Now we're in our room, listening to music, about to pass out.
