We arrived in Rome this morning after no sleep on an overnight flight. Michael and I played chess to pass the time and talked about hypothetical plane crash situations. The view out our window was breathtaking, and the milky way was so bright. We also saw tons of Victoria day fireworks in Toronto as we flew above it.
We took the train into Rome and checked into our hostel. It's not much, but there's free wifi and amazing pizza around the corner. We went walking to the Trevi fountain and ate gelato and tossed coins in the fountain. Then we went in search of pizza, and found a bunch of landmarks along the way that I'm sure we'll get to on a tour. Unforetunately most pizza places we found were either closed or were tourist traps, although we ordered some into our hostel with bottles of Peroni and it was delicious!
Tomorrow we're planning on touring the colliseum, and going on a free walking tour run by aspiring tour guides and history majors. It's supposed to rain, but we probably won't let that stop us.

I'm already jealous, please don't stop posting pictures they are adorable. Mike, your backpack looks bigger than the entire world.
ReplyDeleteHave an amazing time in Rome! You know what they say...when in Rome...don't stop eating pizza and gelato!
